"Kookanoodles" (Kookanoodles)

Peugeot just unveiled the brand-new version of their successful 3008 crossover, and it looks nothing like its
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
. Which is a huge relief, because said predecessor looked like a bloated egg. This new one, however, doesn’t stop at simply bringing the exterior design up to snuff. Oh no.
I think it’s the boldest-looking production car to come out of Sochaux in a long, long time, and one of the first in years to truly deliver on the promise of all those !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . But much more importantly, would you just look at that interior! This is the newest evolution of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design, which essentially means putting the instruments above a tiny steering wheel, and it looks fantastic. Speaking of the instruments, there actually aren’t any to speak of. The 3008 will get an Audi TT-style screen instead, but at all levels of the range to boot. The overall design is just delightful, with those toggle switches underneath the central touchscreen and cool shifter. All I can say is I wish the RCZ had had a successor so it could have received this interior.
The exterior, while bold, is not as pretty as the inside, but boy is this car confident, and I love it. Just watch the product video at the end of the article: Peugeot hasn’t had a mainstream car worthy of such chest-thumping in an age, but I think they’ve earned it now. There are good things to expect out of Peugeot.

Their design language is really starting to come into its own. If they can pull this off on a mainstream crossover, I can’t wait to see what the next generation of DS cars will be like.

The last one really looked fantastic for its age as well, it’s really a shame they are such shit cars in the real world...

It’s a crying shame that it’s going to be at least a couple of years because we get such an interior in a fun little Peugeot. I mean the next non-crossover on the horizon is most likely the new 508, and that’ll be a big highway cruiser. The 208 still has life in it, the 308 is practically brand new and the RCZ won’t get replaced. Here’s hoping the next 508 spawns some sort of coupé, but I’m not holding my breath.

I know I’m pumped if it’s really happening or just becomes Alfa 2.0

If it happens it’ll be very very slow anyway. Which I think is good. What they’re doing is getting a foothold in the market by becoming a mobility provider first, a carmaker second. They’re willing to let themselves be shaped by the American market and customer before they even start selling cars there. It should follow that their first offerings will have been developed for an American target, or at least a global target. As opposed to Alfa Romeo’s (but even more Fiat’s) strategy of selling the same cars as in Europe.
By the way, I wouldn’t be too hard on Alfa on that front. Yes it’s taken ages and the North American relaunch still hasn’t really happened, but discounting the 4C their first offerings in the US will be a midsize sedan with powerful petrol engines and a choice of automatic and manual (which Americans do buy against all clichés), and an SUV. Those are not the moves of a company blind to American tastes.

Not too long ago, Peugeot SUVs looked rubbish - but this is awesome from a design standpoint (in comparison to its rivals especially).
I approve~
